Applications
An Application is the totality of technology, code, platforms, etc., that
comprise and deliver the business functionality for a particular task.
Applications may be large (requiring a floor of programmers and analysts to
maintain) or small (a single executable that infrequently changes).
For example:
- An organization with multiple products/websites may choose to make each
one an Application
- An Application can exist as a common framework that other Applications can
reference
- An individual working on an open-source project may choose to make that
project an Application in BuildMaster
Deleting Applications
Deleting (or purging) an Application in BuildMaster is a permanent
operation. That is, all deployment histories, logs, plans, configuration files,
change scripts, and everything except Build Artifacts are deleted. You should
only delete an Application if you are certain that you will never need any
of this information again.
