Validation error when modifying TFS issue tracker settings

  • When I try to modify an existing TFS issue tracker (see image), I get a blank validation error. It doesn't seem to be related to the change I'm making, as it appears even if I make no changes and try to save. I've tried resetting all of the fields in different ways and this always prevents me from saving any changes. The only way I can get it to work is to delete the issue tracker and recreate it, and reconfigure all my applications to use the new one.

  • This happens in any browser, by the way (Firefox, Chrome, IE). I also noticed it started happening around release 4.1.1, maybe 4.0.9 but I'm not sure.

  • As a workaround, can you try changing the name of the provider? Like, append a "2" or something?

  • Yeah, if I add a space to the end of the name, it will let me save. I believe this started happening around the time that the "Allow HTML" checkbox was added there.

  • Ah, I think I know the issue; we also added a "duplicate name check" recently.

There must be another scm provider with the same name that's triggering the dup check.

  • There shouldn't be. It's probably trying to create a new record for whatever reason and that is triggering the dupe check. There's no other provider with that name.
