Is support for Azure Active Directory (OpenID Connect) planned?

We have been moving several of our infrastructure apps into Azure and would like to use our standard Active Directory credentials to authenticate. We have our AD being synchronized with an Azure Active Directory instance, but we can't enable domain services so we don't have LDAP available.
Is there a plan to allow authentication support for Azure Active Directory (e.g., federated authentication / OpenID Connect) in the future?

Yes, although this is currently extensible by extending the UserDirectory class.
