We're starting to get a few applications in now and finding that at times jobs getting blocked because others are already running.

Is it possible to run more than 2 (seems to be the limit) at any one time?

I installed BuildMaster to a new virtual machine running Windows 10 (also tried 7 with same results) and was able to deploy a build without issue.

However, after rebooting the machine, I can no longer access the BuildMaster web interface, and the BuildMaster web service starts, then stops almost immediately.

The Event Log shows the following entries:

This seems to be intermittent, but it really makes installing pre-release packages annoying.

Lets say you have 2 packages:

  • Foo (version 1.0.0-pre)
  • Bar (version 1.0.0-alpha)

And Bar has a dependency on Foo (version 1.0.0-pre)

Attempting to install it via the Package Manager Console fails:

PS> Install-Package Bar -Version 1.0.0-alpha
Attempting to resolve dependency 'Foo (≥ 1.0.0-pre)'.
Install-Package : Unable to resolve dependency 'Foo (≥ 1.0.0-pre)'.
At line:1 char:1
+ Install-Package Bar -Version 1.0.0-alpha -Source ...
+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [Install-Package], InvalidOperationException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : NuGetCmdletUnhandledException,NuGet.PowerShell.Commands.InstallPackageCommand

It is easy to tell which packages have this problem in the ProGet website. If you navigate to /feeds/default/Bar/1.0.0-alpha, you will see the dependency on Foo. If you click the link, it will just bring you back to the default feed page. On packages that have a stable version (and some that don't), this will bring you to the package's page.

Hi,
I am having ProGet-3.4.6 installed in 'Windows 2008 R2 Standard - Service Pack-1'.

Some times(like when connected to VPN) I am unable to download NuGet package of more than 30MB. Is there a way to increase timeout either in NuGet server or anyother place?

The error message while downloading from chrome is 'Failed - Network error'.

Thanks

Is there any documentation on the recommended way to backup the proget application data so that the data would be recoverable in the situation of a server failure.

Thanks

As the title says: "How can I automatically promote the build step to the first envrionment?

According to http://inedo.com/support/kb/1018/automatically-promoting-builds-to-environments there should be a task available but the only one I can find is "Promote Build in Other Applications".

I get an error when attempting to connect to the ProGet package feed within Visual Studio. I have used Fiddler to detect the actual traffic.

Error: Nullable object must have a value

http://PackageServer/nuget/Default/Search%28%29/$count?$filter=IsLatestVersion&searchTerm=%27My Search%27&targetFramework=%27net45%27&includePrerelease=false

Amended version works (remove $count):

http://PackageServer/nuget/Default/Search%28%29/?$filter=IsLatestVersion&searchTerm=%27My Search%27&targetFramework=%27net45%27&includePrerelease=false

I can see that the problem is caused by the $count part of this URL, but I can't change this as the URL is generated by Visual Studio. What can be done to work around this issue?

In my workflow, I want to add an item to an environment's pre-deployment approval checklist that will check a variable value. I can do this by going to the workflow, finding the environment I want, clicking the green plus sign next to "Pre-Deployment Approval Checklist", and clicking "Variable". The dialog that appears contains two fields: "Variable" and "Required value".

What goes in the "Required value" field? Does this have to be a static value to test for (e.g., testing that my variable equals "123"), or can I also put regular expressions in there? Can I test that the variable has a value, regardless of what that value is? In my case, I don't care what the value is, but I want to make sure it has one before deploying to my target environment.

The build I'm triggering from Jenkins is not getting the parameter I am passing to it.

I'm have tried setting the build parameters for the BM Trigger Jenkins Build task to:

token=BUILDMASTER&VERSION_NUMBER=$ReleaseNumber.$BuildNumber&cause=Triggered+from+BuildMaster

and a more simple version

token=BUILDMASTER&VERSION_NUMBER=1.0.1

The BM log file would suggest that BM is trying to pass the correct thing:

1: Trigger PaxHoldRelease-Build Build in Jenkins with additional parameters token=BUILDMASTER&VERSION_NUMBER=1.0.1 and wait for completion

but Jenkins insists that it wasn't provided any parameters - although the build does at least start.

If I manually call this Jenkins url and pass in the parameters it all works perfectly:

http://jenkins/job/PaxHoldRelease-Build/buildWithParameters?token=BUILDMASTER&VERSION_NUMBER=0.1.10 the build starts with the version number passed

Any ideas?

I'm trying to trigger a Jenkins job from BuildMaster using the Jenkins Plugin (vs 4.4.1)

  1. I have configured the Jenkins job to allow "Trigger builds remotely" and set an Authentication Token of "BUILDMASTER"

  2. In BuildMaster I configured the Jenkins extension with the url - http:\jenkins, user name and API token for that user. (NOTE: Jenkins is configured to use Active Directory authentication).

  3. In BuildMaster I created a job using the Trigger Jenkins Build task, left the config profile set to "Extension Default" set the job name to valid job and build parameters to "token=BUILDMASTER&VERSION_NUMBER=0.0.0.0"

  4. I have tested the url I expect the extension to generate and that worked find: http://jenkins/job/PaxHoldRelease-Build/buildWithParameters?token=BUILDMASTER&VERSION_NUMBER=0.0.0.0

  5. When running via BuildMaster however I get this in the logs (Note: it gets correct jenkins build number so is talking to jenkins):

Determining next Jenkins build number...Triggering Jenkins Build #4...

An unhandled exception occurred while executing this action: System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden. at Inedo.BuildMaster.Extensibility.Actions.RemoteCommandExecution.RemoteCommandExecuter.ExecuteCommand(RemoteActionBase remoteAction, String commandName, String[] commandArgs) at Inedo.BuildMaster.Extensibility.Agents.Local.LocalAgent.Inedo.BuildMaster.Extensibility.Agents.IRemoteCommandExecuter.ExecuteCommand(RemoteActionBase action, String commandName, String[] commandArgs) at Inedo.BuildMaster.Extensibility.Actions.RemoteActionBase.ExecuteRemoteCommand(String name, String[] args) at Inedo.BuildMasterExtensions.Jenkins.TriggerBuildAction.Execute() at Inedo.BuildMaster.Extensibility.Actions.ActionBase.ExecuteInternal(IActionExecutionContext context, ExtensionConfigurerBase extensionConfigurer, Boolean resumeNextOnError, Boolean logErrorsAsWarnings)

I've also tried running the BuildMaster service from command line to inspect the output but couldn't find anything special in it.

Any ideas???

I open http://localhost:81/administration/security/enable-ldap and see the error:

There are currently no privileges granted to any LDAP users or groups. You must grant privileges before switching to LDAP authentication.

If I click Assign Privileges and add some user from my domain then I get the follow error:

System.Web.HttpUnhandledException (0x80004005): Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8007054B): The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

I added a bower feed with a git repo.

Then I setup the registry in my .bowerrc as "http://localhost:81/bower/bower"

(“bower” is the name of the feed)

But when I run bower install I get the error 503:

D:\Work\R-n-D\samples\WebApplication5\Client>bower install croc.webClient --debug
bower EINVRES Request to http://localhost:81/bower/bower/packages/croc.webClient failed with 503

What can be wrong?

The git-repo I specified for the feed is being used already as a bower repo (so it works).

We have a few environments, and use the workflow "approval" (or check, not sure the exact term) to ensure that all change controls in a given environment are completed before allowing promotion to that environment. However, it seems like it's not environment-aware. For instance, if we add a change control and associate it only with our final (Production) environment, it still prevents deployment to earlier environments.

  1. Is it possible to have builds triggered by a post commit hook in subversion rather than using SCM Triggered Automated Builds which I assume polls subversion for changes?

Ideally it would need to operate like jenkins - call a buildmaster url from subversion post commit hook passing the repository/path that has changed and have buildmaster figure which project needs to be built.

I guess I could use URL triggered builds from SVN post commit hook but there would be alot of maintenance of post commit hooks required to support that as new project and jobs added.

  1. How often does it BuildMaster poll subversion and is this configurable?

I've got a working PowerShell 'download' script for a NuGet package feed from my company's Proget server:

$targetUri = "https://path/to/my/nuget/package"
$credentialUser = "{AD username}"
$credentialPwd = "{AD password}"

$secureString = ConvertTo-SecureString -String $credentialPwd -AsPlainText -Force
$credential = New-Object System.Management.Automation.PSCredential ($credentialUser, $secureString)
$webClient = New-Object System.Net.WebClient
$webClient.Credentials = $credential
$webClient.DownloadFile($targetUri, "C:\\Tools\octopus-tentacle.2.6.1.796.nupkg")

Now I need to do this same thing in Ruby. Having no luck getting anything but HTTP 401s. Trying rubyntlm gem now (https://github.com/WinRb/rubyntlm/blob/master/examples/http.rb), but if anyone has a working example, I'd be quite appreciative.
