Hello,

I have set up a service deployment to one of our servers.

On the Stop Service dialog, after selecting the servers, it shows all my services in dropdownlist based on the search. That means BuildMaster could access the services on that specific server.

When running the deployment plan, it throws an error when trying to stop the service:

2: Stop NoteService Service
Source and target directory are the same; splitting...
AgentBasedAction initialization complete:

Stopping service NoteService...
Service could not be stopped: Cannot open NoteService service on computer '.'.

I am facing the same problem when starting the service.

Any ideas?

We're seeing issues where NuGet clients are timing out on a GET of a normal-sized package (10MB) from a ProGet feed. This only happens when the download is happening across a slow WAN link. For local clients with decent connectivity to the service we've never seen it occur.

Packet captures show that the package is streamed by the service for 120 seconds after which time no additional TCP segments are sent (the NuGet client has acknowledged all TCP segments). Our WAN link is spotty so this is typically enough to transfer 6-8MB of the package but not the entire payload. No additional data is streamed after this point. At 420 seconds the NuGet client closes the connection with an error message.

I found ProGet while looking for how to easily set up a symbol/source server for our internal nuget packages. We don’t have many packages and are just hosting them on a network share. I configured ProGet (free version) with a new feed using the UNC share path for the feed disk path. If I configure VisualStudio with a new NuGet package source using the feed’s URL it can see the packages on my share.

My share contains regular and *.symbol.nupkg packages for every package. When I configure VisualStudio to use the feed’s symbol server URL (following the instructions here and here), I still cannot debug into any of the packages. I do see the following indexing error on my administration page:

Logged 10/2/2014 2:57:59 PM

Is ProGet not able to handle symbol packages from a network share? Or, do I have something else configured wrong?

Thanks,
Cary

I am experimenting with using ChocolateY as a deployment mechanism for our internal software.
I have created a ChocolateY feed on our proget server, and added a couple of packages:

arenaframework-client 0.0.1

arenaframework-client 0.0.2

chocolatey 0.9.8.27

First, I ran "cinst arenaframework-client -version 0.0.1"
This runs without a hitch, the package gets installed. Great success.

Given that I have v0.0.2 of the same package, I then tried to run "cup arenaframework-client"
This should update my package to v0.0.2, but returns with "nothing to update"

Having digged into the powershell modules that makes up ChocolateY, I found that it uses "nuget list" under the hood to find updates to a package.

So, this is the root of the problem:
"nuget list" (without any parameters, from the command line) returns:

arenaframework-client 0.0.2

chocolatey 0.9.8.27

"nuget list chocolatey" returns:
chocolatey 0.9.8.27

"nuget list arenaframework-client" returns:
No packages found.

So it would seem that the hyphen in the package name is something that Proget doesn't handle.
However, the hyphen is part of the recommended ChocolateY naming convention.( https://github.com/chocolatey/chocolatey/wiki/CreatePackages )

Any recommendations on how to get around this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Sincere regards,
Erling Paulsen

I am trying to just use the default ProGet feed (has 1 connector to https://nuget.org/api/v2/)

When I run:

nuget.exe install NServiceBus.Interfaces -o "C:\temp\packages" -source "http://localhost:87/nuget/Default"

I get:

Unable to resolve dependency 'NServiceBus (≥ 5.0.0)'

if I run the exact same command with the nugget URL is works fine:

nuget.exe install NServiceBus.Interfaces -o "C:\temp\packages" -source "https://nuget.org/api/v2/"
Attempting to resolve dependency 'NServiceBus (≥ 5.0.0)'.
Installing 'NServiceBus 5.0.0'.
Successfully installed 'NServiceBus 5.0.0'.
Installing 'NServiceBus.Interfaces 5.0.0'.
Successfully installed 'NServiceBus.Interfaces 5.0.0'.

  • I am starting with clean caches when running (Proget, Nuget and package output are cleaned)
  • I am using Nuget.exe 2.8.2
  • I am using Proget 3.1.7 running in IIS (same behavior when running as service)

Hello, I created a new ProGet feed with a connector to "https://nuget.org/api/v2/". I am trying to restore the package "NServiceBus.Interfaces" version 3.3.2 using that ProGet feed. But the ProGet feed does not appear to go back to that version. If I view the ProGet feed via the local ProGet website, it only lists back to version 4.1.0-unstable3370. Is there something I must do to make ProGet support older package versions?

Is there any way to retrieve the Server Name of the parent Action Group if the assigned server to a child task is different? For example, if I assign a child task to Server B, the $ServerName variable will have a value of Server B since that is currently scoped. However, if the parent Action Group has an assignment of Server A, I would like to be able to retrieve that server assignment. Is there any way to accomplish that?

We are looking to install Buildmaster agents on some of our DMZ web servers. Do we need bi-directional firewall rules? I know that a "Buildmaster Server -> DMZ Server" rule on the specific port, but does the agent initiate any traffic such that I will also need a rule for "DMZ Server -> Buildmaster Server"?

Hi there,

I'm quite new to NuGet and we're evaluating ProGet at the moment. I've got it installed with the default feed which has a connector to nuget.org. What I hoped is that by having that connector and feed available, when I pointed Visual Studio at this default feed I would be able to search all the packages on NuGet.org. However, I only seem to be able to search packages that ProGet has downloaded. At the moment I'm heeding the warnings in the application about 'not simply downloading nuget.org' so VisStudio can't search nuget.org. Is there a way of getting ProGet to act as a proxy for nuget.org in this way and then download packages as required? Our eventual requirement is to be able to build from Jenkins, and our Jenkins servers don't have internet access, so can't get to nuget.org directlry.

I'm coming from a Java/Maven background where I've used tools like nexus/artifatory - if an application asks for a dependency that the repo doesn't have locally, it just goes and gets it. The repo doesn't have to download things first.

Thanks,
Sarah

Is there any way to clone or branch a feed so you have two identical feeds that you can then publish different further packages to?

Hello,

I am currently evaluating ProGet as a way to keep better control over third party packages in my company's shared .NET environment. So far everything is looking great. However, there is one feature we were hoping for that I have not been able to find anything for so far. We would like to have any package restored from NuGet through the ProGet feed during the build, to automatically download to the server's local disk. I know we can do a mass download for a feed or download each package individually, but we would prefer to have it download when restored so we only have what the developers are using and to hold versions of packages that have been removed from NuGet. Has this ever come up before? Do you have any suggestions?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
When I push to a feed from the command line using -ApiKey Admin:Admin I am prompted for credentials, even though no API key is set for the feed. I also removed the API Key from the advanced settings page in the web user interface. Anonymous Authentication is enabled in IIS (I have tried Forms Authentication as well).

When I enter the admin credentials, the package is successfully pushed.

Below is the command I am using:

nuget.exe push MyPackage.1.0.0.nupkg -ApiKey Admin:Admin -Source
http://localhost:7070/nuget/Developer
Pushing MyPackage 1.0.0 to 'http://localhost:7070/nuget/Developer'...
Please provide credentials for: http://localhost:7070/nuget/Developer
UserName: Admin
Password: *****
Your package was pushed.

I need to be able to push without being prompted for credentials, since this will be executed using the Team City NuGet Publish build runner.

I am using the following:
ProGet 3.1.2 (Free)
NuGet 2.8.2
IIS 7.0
Windows Server 2008 R2
SQL Server Express 2005

Thanks,
Martin

I'd like to store NuGet packages in Amazon S3. It is important to allow downloading packages directly from AWS S3 and not just streaming via ProGet server. Is it possible to do this using current ProGet SDK or is there a workaround to achieve this?

Hi,
We are trying to use the symbol/source server functionality of ProGet, however are not succeeding.

We have a feed with symbol/source support turned on. We have published a nuget package to this feed that contains the dll, pdb under lib and the source under src.

We have followed the instructions from http://inedo.com/support/tutorials/debug-into-internal-nuget-packages-with-proget. It seems that VisualStudio is able to successfully find and download the PDB however when it then goes to retrieve the source it receives a 404.

If I go and try to access the URL that VisualStudio is attempting to access:
http://localhost:81/source-files/Default/MyPackage/2.0.0/

I get a Request Handler not found (404) with the Error Details:
/source-files/Default/MyPackage/2.0.0/ does not map to any handlers. The URL may have been entered incorrectly or linked to from an old reference.

I have checked the package on disk and it does still have the structure of the one we uploaded. Also the UI in proget says a source/symbol package is available and I can download the package with the source and symbols from the UI.

We have been evaluating ProGet for sometime now and finally have the budget approved to purchase. However not being able to debug into the packages is making us question if we want to proceed...

All:

I'm installing and configuring BuildMaster in our new server environment that is being built with Windows Failover Clustering supporting SQL Server 2012 Enterprise. I'm having trouble configuring the instances. I've installed the agents on both the primary and secondary node, and setup a server group for the two nodes. Unfortunately, when I go into an application to setup a database connection, I can't select the Server Group, only individual servers.

From here I can select the Primary Node and issue a connection string with the instance name, but I'm concerned that it is dependent on the primary node being up and running. In other words, BuildMaster won't work with the failover configuration if we're in a failover state.

Has anyone had any thoughts regarding this?

I was trying to use an ApplicationGroup variable to hold some information about our TFS project root. I have several applications groups and they loosely match to our TFS projects so it would be a nice shortcut to be able to include the information here and reference it. Everything was great until I started setting the value for each of my groups. At that point, all the builds started to break including ones that were not even using the variable. The error is listed below. Question: Is this something that should work?
