Hi.

We started using ProGet as our internal package server so we could share some custom packages with multiple teams. Since ProGet supports connectors behind a feed, we created one connector to the NuGet official repository in order to take advantage of its caching capabilities.

Things were going fine until we decided to ditch the official NuGet feed in Visual Studio and use only our ProGet-based one. After disabling the official feed NuGet failed to resolve any remote dependencies our custom packages might have. That seemed odd because we could install any remote package directly without any issues using the very same feed.

We did some debugging and found out that NuGet behaves differently when the official feed is enabled. Here's the trace when only our internal feed is available:

GET http://server/nuget/Default/Packages()?$filter=tolower(Id)%20eq%20'awssdk'&$orderby=Id
GET http://server/nuget/Default/Packages()?$filter=tolower(Id)%20eq%20'awssdk'&$orderby=Id

And here's the trace generated when both NuGet and our feed are enabled:

GET http://server/nuget/Default/Packages()?$filter=tolower(Id)%20eq%20'awssdk'&$orderby=Id
GET http://server/nuget/Default/Packages()?$filter=tolower(Id)%20eq%20'awssdk'&$orderby=Id
GET https://www.nuget.org/api/v2/FindPackagesById()?id='AWSSDK'
GET https://www.nuget.org/api/v2/FindPackagesById?id='AWSSDK'&$skiptoken='AWSSDK','1.4.8.1'
GET https://www.nuget.org/api/v2/FindPackagesById?id='AWSSDK'&$skiptoken='AWSSDK','1.5.30.1'
GET https://www.nuget.org/api/v2/FindPackagesById?id='AWSSDK'&$skiptoken='AWSSDK','2.0.1.0'

Is that a bug in ProGet, in NuGet or are we missing some configuration?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards.

We have many servers in our cloud environment and have decided to enable rolling deployments to ensure the least amount of downtime for our users. What is the best process for deploying to large numbers of servers where one of more of them may not be powered up when the deployment runs?

I see that you can set resume on failure and also log errors are warnings, but it seems like buildmaster takes a long time get past the operations if the servers are not active.

Also, we tried using server groups, but even with resume on next turned on, if one of the servers in the group was not active, the process failed.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I am using Jenkins extension and when I try to get Jenkins artifact of a specific job, I get this error

ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.Zip.ZipException: Cannot find central directory

at ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.Zip.ZipFile..ctor(String name)

Please help me, I don't know if this is a BuildMaster issue or with the extension.

Thank you,

Does anyone have any case studies or examples of SSRS Report Project deployments through BuildMaster? Most of our Report Projects are stored in TFS and it seems like this should be fairly easily, but we'd like to package them together with the other releases as they're usually enhanced and developed alongside and during other development work.

547160Builds_CreateBuild94`The INSERT statement conflicted with the CHECK constraint "CK__VariableDefintions__Value_Text_Domain". The conflict occurred in database "BuildMaster", table "dbo.VariableDefinitions", column 'Value_Text'.

Is it possible to have application variables in different applications named the same? I seem to be getting this exception. Thank you.

A certain package always fails downloading, while others succeed.
The download fails either when using the "Download" button or when using nuget from within visual studio by clicking "restore packages".

The error:

Request handler not found (404)

An unexpected error has occured while processing your request.

Error Details:

/api/v2/package/Default/EntireOne.Shared.Rules/2.0.11.0 does not map to any handlers. The URL may have been entered incorrectly or linked to from an old reference.

I've made sure the app pool is running in classic mode after seeing this post: http://inedo.com/support/questions/1208, but the error happens anyway.

I have a project that consists of various Database Change Scripts for testing (SQL Server provider). I have purposefully set up a script that alters a table that doesn't exist (should fail/produce an error message). However, when I run this script through Build Master for a deployment to an environment it produces a success and no issue is raised.

Can you let me know if there is any configuration that can be set to allow SQL Scripts that have errors to be shown as errors instead of successful? It seems like as long as script can be sent to remote agent it is considered successful.

Is it possible to grab the Release number from TeamCity and use that as a build number in BuildMaster? This would help us better understand which Buildmaster version links to which TeamCity version.

We are doing .NET development of an in-house system. We’re using nuget packages to share modules between a set of Visual Studio solutions and ProGet has been working great so far.

We are using TeamCity for CI, and it is building and pushing our nuget packages on each build. Since there are several independent packages in a solution we are manually controlling the package version by incrementing it when we make changes to a given package. This also means that all packages that are not changed will still be built as part of the solution and TeamCity will be re-pushing the same version of the packages every time. I have enabled the Feeds_OverwritePackage permission to avoid errors. The only problem we have with this is that if someone forgets to increment the version number when they make changes the package will be overwritten in the feed. And now there are differing packages in use with the exact same version number.

My question is then, is there any way to have ProGet silently discard re-pushed packages instead of overwriting?

Or even better, to fail in the case where the package has the same version and different content, and ignore the pushes where the content is the same except for file-dates and such since the package is re-built from the same source.

I'm thinking of using a nuget feed as a release device. Basically packages that are ready to be used in the release product version can be placed in the release feed. I was wondering if there is an easy way to place a reference to a package from another feed. I can see I can upload a package from another feed, but it requires be to type in the ID and version.

I'd like to do something as part of our release process, where I can have someone easily promote a package version to the release feed.
