Using Buildmaster 4.0.7 build 19.

I have declared a Promotion variable for the first environment and set it as "value is required".

But when you next access the variable the "set only on initial promotion" is no longer checked. If you check this and try to save you get an SQL error.

And when you promote the build to the first environment you never get an opportunity to set the variable value.

Can you please investigate this issue.

We are using Buildmaster 4.0.7 build 19.

We had a failed build which we wanting to re-execute from the last failed action. But clicking this button caused the build to re-execute from the start.

Do you know why this failed ?

I upgraded our server from 4.0.6 to 4.0.7 and then my problems started. I got the 'value cannot be null Parameter name activation code' similar to the previous poster. I could not get to the license page http://buildmaster-server/administration/licensing - I tried all sorts of permutations. (I also did not see any warning about license activation - in fact I thought I had activated it.)

So I thought I would try to uninstall and re-install the product.

Except I cannot uninstall it - the program is still registered in control panel. It seems to me that to get part way through and raises a silent exception. I have even ticked the database removal (I installed the sql express version) - but it is still there. The extensions and artefacts have gone.

The problem I cannot re-install - I get a message that Buildmaster is already installed. So now I am stuck I cannot uninstall or install.

How can I get passed the product is already installed message?

I'm getting this error message after logging in:
Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: activationCode

I recently upgraded from v4.0.6 to 4.0.7, and this message was the only response to my login attempt. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling (leaving the database in place) but I'm still getting the same error. Is it possible something went wrong during some database schema change?

Steps to reproduce:

  1. add multiple versions of a packages to a feed.
  2. create a new feed
  3. use the /packages/add-package/pull mechanism to add a package from the first feed.

The package is added to the new feed, both in the file system and the webpage display. The package is still available in file system for the old feed, but no longer appears in the webpage of the old feed (It is also only in one feed in the dbo.Packages table.

Expected Result:
I expected the package to be added to the new feed, but still be available in the old feed. I would also expect the content of the DB and the filesystem to be kept in sync, so if you are deleting a package entry in the old feed, the package should also be removed.

Hi, I would like to be able to automate the moving of my packages around my feeds. First prize would be a move functionality, however I am already able to delete from a feed, so the ability to add a package would solve my problems. I would like to be able to call this WebMethod (http://MyProgetSite/packages/add-package/pull).

i don't understand if buildmaster supports tests with microsoft fakes and can play coded ui tests.
Are these features already included or are in plans in a short future?

When attempting to connection with the Subversion extension, I am receiving this error. How can I fix this?

The newest version of Proget doesn't appear to work via IIS install. Not sure it's setting it up right, but you get a 403 directory browsing not enabled.

Rolling back to the previous minor version, the install works as expected.

There was an issue with the newer version where packages would not fill in on the ui when you dumped them in the folder and it would get out of sync and say the package can't be found even though it was in the folder. We have quite a few feeds and packages. Reverting back to the previous minor version fixed this problem. I can't give you a ton of details as at first I tried rebuilding the server with the newest version (which failed due to the above issue). I didn't want to spend a lot of time on it, so I reverted it to the previous minor version.

It appears that if your Package name has "Soap" in it or at least the suffix of the package is .Soap, you get a 404 specific proget error page with this error message.

/api/v2/package/builds/Ipc.Boarding.Endpoints.Soap/ does not map to any handlers. The URL may have been entered incorrectly or linked to from an old reference.

changing the package to Ipc.Boarding.Endpoints.Sp made it work, but no matter how many I generate under the previous name, I always get the same error

hi, we are using Buildmaster 4.0.6 build 26. The log output windows show as white/coloured text on a black background which causes problems when printing.

In Buildmaster v3.7 we were able to toggle the text in the log window from block on white to whie on block.

Can we still change the colours in Buildmaster v4 ?

Hi, we are using Buildmaster v4.0.6 build 26.

We have setup a Developer Role which is allowed to all option under "Builds" excet "Force Build" and "Override Promotion Status".

We then assign a user as a Developer under Manage Privileges.

But the user is now able to promote the build - they only get viewing privileges.

Can you please check if there is a bug or maybe we have not set it up correctly.

Hi, we are using Buildmaster v4.0.6 (build 26).

When deploying to a remote unix server (solaris 10 and red hat linux) the Buildmaster ssh agent seems to leave a number of sshd processes running on the unix machine.

Can you please investigate this.

Is there a way to turn off the automatic update check for ProGet 2.2.x? We are running it on a server with limited Internet access and don't want it trying to ping out all the time.

We have been using Buildmaster which suddenly starting working slow, when we execute a particular workflow, it just hang for a longer time and get executed after almost an hour..
So we tried upgrading it to the latest version of 4.0.6 and still the issue persists.

We got part way through upgrading from 3.7.0 build 5 to 4.0.6 build 26 when we got this error. How do we fix this up so that we can complete the release?

Unfortunately, some paths in my Git repository are longer than the Windows 'MAX_PATH' limit; I'm seeing errors in the build log like the following:

Applying label '1.1.1'.
Arguments: get "" "refs/heads/master"
Working Directory: C:\BuildMaster\_SVCTMP\GitRepositories\my-repository.git

Executing C:\BuildMaster_SVCTMP\ExtTemp\Git\lilgit.exe
An unhandled exception occurred while executing this action: System.InvalidOperationException: Failed to make directory 'C:/BuildMaster/_SVCTMP/GitRepositories/my-repository.git/this-was-a-really-long-path': The filename or extension is too long. at Inedo.BuildMasterExtensions.Git.Clients.LilGitClient.UpdateLocalRepo(IGitRepository repo, String branch, String tag) at Inedo.BuildMasterExtensions.Git.GitSourceControlProviderCommon.ApplyLabel(String label, String sourcePath) at Inedo.BuildMaster.Extensibility.Actions.SourceControl.ApplyLabelAction.Execute() at Inedo.BuildMaster.Extensibility.Actions.ProviderBasedAction`1.Execute(IActionCancellationToken cancellationToken) at Inedo.BuildMaster.Extensibility.Actions.ActionBase.Execute(IActionCancellationToken cancellationToken, ExecutionContext context, ExtensionConfigurerBase extensionConfigurer, Boolean resumeNextOnError, Boolean logErrorsAsWarnings)

I'm guessing that the relevant code could be modified to use different Windows API methods that aren't limited to MAX_PATH.

An error occurs in BuildMaster when we try to run NUnit tests from buildmaster.

Configuration of the 'Execute NUnit Tests' action:
Source directory: C:\test
NUnit Exe Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\NUnit 2.6.3\bin\nunit-console.exe
.NET Framework Version: 4.0.30319
Test File: SyncForce.SalesOrder.ServiceTest.dll
Group Name: Test
Additional Argument:

If we run the unit tests from a command prompt, there are no problems. We used this command:
C:\Program Files (x86)\NUnit 2.6.3\bin>nunit-console.exe "C:\test\SyncForce.SalesOrder.ServiceTest.dll"

When pulling a package, with dependencies, into a proget feed from a connector, proget fails.

Proget info:
Version 2.2

In ProGet, the "Last Updated" date in the nuget package is shown correctly in the web interface, but when viewed in a nuget client, displays at UTC/GMT.

In looking at the raw feed data, the timezone portion (the Z) of the datetime string is missing.

Eg in the <entry> element there is an <update> element.

Proget provides:

NuGet.Server provides:

This allows nuget clients to show the published date in the local time zone, rather than UTC/GMT.

I am trying to create an application (named 'Platform multi') which creates builds for a number of other applications. In the deployment plan for 'Platform multi' I added a new Action of type 'Create New Build - Creates a new build of another Application.'.

The applications that must be build from the 'Platform multi' application all have 2 active releases:
107 (this is both the release name and the release number)
106 (this is both the release name and the release number)

107 is the newest active release.
106 is the oldest active release.

I only want to create new builds for the newest active release (107 in this case) of every application.

In the configuration for the 'Create New Build - Creates a new build of another Application.' action, I chose one of the applications to build ('Asset service') and entered the name of the release I want to build: '107' in the 'Select the release of the application to promote.' field. But when I build the 'Platform multi' application, it starts creating builds for both release 106 of the 'Asset service' and release 107 of the 'Asset service'.

Is there something wrong in the configuration of the action? Did I enter the correct name of the release in the 'Select the release of the application to promote.' field? Or is there a better way to create builds for the newest active release of multi applications at once?
