Hi,

We make use of the prerelease tag in the NuGet package to tag packages with different uses.

Ex:

My.Package.1.0.0-dev-20151126-1545

I'd like to be able to filter the retention rules for a feed on the version, not just id/name.

Ex. I would like to only keep the latest 10 versions of all packages that matches the "rel" tag in the version. Thins would not touch packages named ex. My.Package.1.0.0-rel-20151126-1545.

Thanks,

/Erik

We are using TFS and need to work on a POC(AngularJS,.NET,Cassandra). Are we eligible to use your free version ? Ours is a small team and our foreign client uses Proget already.

We are deploying a site to a linux server. The build yesterday took several hours to deploy, I made a change to 1 file in the repo and re-deployed this morning. How is it that it detects 15,733 files have changed instead of just the 1? is it looking at the modified timestamp on the file, file size? if the time or timezone is different on the destination server, will it re-deploy all?

Loading file from C:\Build\Artifacts\1025\1.0\3\1026\site.zip...

Getting list of files in target path...

Getting list of files in artifact...

Determining which files need to be deployed...

15733 files in artifact; 15733 files have changed

Deploying files...

Hi

If we add a Active directory group to a feed on a Proget server which connects to another feed on a different Proget server and do not add the Active directory to the this one.

What account does the authentication to the other feed is it the user running the Proget service or the username and password used for the connector feed.

Hi,
Do you have any plans to introduce a feed type for a private PowerShell Gallery (https://www.powershellgallery.com/)? Technically it is just a NuGet Feed (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/powershell/archive/2014/05/20/setting-up-an-internal-powershellget-repository.aspx) but would be nice to have OOTB remote connectors, etc

Trying to figure out what happened but as of about 30 minutes ago we started getting this for all builds.

I am doing a bunch of XDT transforms on a project that has 3 solution configurations: test, staging and live. At the moment for each transform I need 3 actions, one for each configuration.

What I would like to do is set up a dropdownlist variable and be able to iterate over the action group for each value in the variable and use it in the transform file field like this:

web.$configValue.config

and the target file:

~\Output$DeployableName$configValue_PublishedWebsites\Project.Web\web.config

I can't see any method to do this - have I missed something? I have quite a few transformations that need to be managed so this would help simply management of the application.

Hi,

I am using the "Prepare ClickOnce Application" action but am finding it difficult to determine what the settings represent - as it does not reflect what is in the publish settings for Visual Studio (2013).

What is the difference between the "Source directory" and the "Application Code Base Directory" ?

Also where is the output/target directory after this action completes - or where is this set?

Thanks in advance,
Dan.

When I go to http://inedo.com/proget/versions and try to click on the 3.8.6 small installer (without sql express) I got a warning from Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security that I am attempting to access a malicious website, and I am blocked. The rating specifies that it is a dangerous verified fraudulent page or threat source. I ran two scans on this website from virustotal.com. The first time reported that three URL scanners had detected that it was a malicious site. The second time I ran it was about 15 minutes later and it reported that there were five URL scanners (Blueliv, Sophos, Emsisoft, Fortinet and Kapersky) that detected it was a malicious site.

Starting today, we have an issue that only Administrators can log in to ProGet. We use the built-in accounts. Non- Admins will be redirected to the login screen without any message. No error message in the log, nothing. Since that is a serious issue (only the Admins can work currently), please point me to how I can investigate the reason of that strange behaviour.

Is there any way to get a log of the install? It appears that when using the silent install, if the install fails one will never know why. Looking at the installer, it seems to be NSIS or a derivative of it which leaves me with no easy way to find out where in the process the install is failing. Should we just abandon trying this (and the infinite number of permutations required to try to deduce why the install is failing) and opt for the manual install?

all the docs say "Import NuGet packages" for using the Build Import for packages from ProGet but I can't seem to get it to do multiple packages, how exactly do I accomplish that?
Also, a request - please allow multiple Build Steps. Someone could want to combine the different methods into one Workflow and right now you can't seem to do that.

Thanks.

I'm attempting to install ProGet on a VM in Azure using a SQL Azure database for the storage.

  • I have a working Azure SQL Server.
  • I created an empty SQL Azure database called proget
  • I created a login for a user proget and made that user a db_owner on the proget database.
  • I verified that I can use SQL Server Management Studio and the proget user credentials to connect to the SQL Azure proget database.

During install I set my connection string per the recommendations in the Azure Portal, substituting in the user credentials I added (line wrapped for readability:

Server=tcp:myserver.database.windows.net,1433;
Database=proget;
User ID=proget@myserver;
Password={password};
Encrypt=True;
TrustServerCertificate=False;
Connection Timeout=30;

The first time I tried this, I got an error message that the proget user didn't have the ability to connect to master. This seems to be a SQL Azure thing, so I added a proget login to master with no rights.

Trying again, I got this message:

Database proget does not exist and the current user does not have the privileges required to create it.

I know the database exists, though it's empty and needs the installer to populate it with tables and such. The user has full db_owner permissions on that database so it should have rights... it just doesn't see the database.

Is SQL Azure supported? Or am I doing something wrong?

There is a similar question for BuildMaster but I'm getting a different error so I figured I'd ask a new question.

Hi,

I'm trying to get an AfterPush Package Adapter running. I've created a MyExtension class, inherited from AfterPushPackageAdapterBase. The class has the ProGetComponentProperties attribute and I also added the following line to AssemblyInfo.cs:

[assembly: ProGetAssembly]

The class overrides the Adapt method since I guess, that's the entrypoint for the extension. I pack everything in a zip, rename it to MyExtension.progetx and push it into the configured extensions folder on the proget server. When I restart the service, I get the following error:

One or more errors occurred while loading this extension.

Assembly MyExtension, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null
is missing the required attribute ProGetAssemblyAttribute.

Did I miss something? Is there a sample for an AfterPush Adapter. Since it's only a few lines of code (i guess), it would be really cool if you could provide these kind of samples to the world. Would be really really helpful since the ProGet SDK Documentation is more a listing of class- and method names but not really a documentation.

Best Regards,

Joachim

So, we have set up TeamCity for CI, and publish of release 'zip' files (compiled code that needs copied to the webserver) and the kicking off of a tool called dbbuild that manages our DBs. Questions are:
When that publish completes successfully in TC, can we easily 'start' a build to DEV integration environment. Then can we schedule this to run (if successful in installing in DEV) that night to TEST.

Lastly, can we schedule a PROD release once we are done for hte middle of the night and have it alert us via text if it fails?

Right now, we have this pretty much all working via batch files and using TC build configurations to kick the batch files....however, promotion, etc is intriguing.

In addition, we don't like the non-graphical configuration, etc of bathc files as it is not overly intuitive (but works fine). Please let me know how this would work in your environment.

Originally our organization mandated octopus, but has since undone that mandate, so I'm trying to see what options I have...The challenge is in general we have it working, so cost may be the reason we don't convert, but that is something to understand after a POC.

Thoughts?

I am seeing a periodic error on the BuildMaster service page re database connection timeout. The database is on a separate server, connection string as follows: "Server=SQLTSTAG;Database=BuildMaster;User Id=BMUser;Password=xxx;Pooling=no;"

When we investigate, there seems to be no issue between the two servers. Where else can we look for further information on this error? It seems to happen every 5-7 days or so. Restarting the BuildMaster service from the admin tab does not fix it - the very same message is reported, down to the number of milliseconds for the handshake duration.

I disabled connection pooling which seemed to delay the error (7 days instead of 5).

Could not connect to the BuildMaster database. BuildMaster will not function property until this is resolved. The specific error message is: Connection Timeout Expired. The timeout period elapsed while attempting to consume the pre-login handshake acknowledgement. This could be because the pre-login handshake failed or the server was unable to respond back in time. The duration spent while attempting to connect to this server was - [Pre-Login] initialization=22; handshake=14987;

We have BuildMaster periodically reporting issues connecting to the SQL server database - but when we investigate, there is no issue between the two servers. Restarting the BuildMaster service from the admin tab does not reset the error, but restarting the machine does.

Based on a suggestion in this support q - http://inedo.com/support/questions/3101 - I disabled connection pooling and have not had this issue recur. However, I am wondering what the consequences of this will be - we plan to have a number of applications configured on the build server - what are the limitations if we do not have connection pooling? Is there a better way to solve this problem?
