I'm a current ProGet user for NuGet packages. I was testing out 3.8.0 and to see if anything had changed since I last reviewed ProGet with regards to more control over maven feed types (I asked this question a few months ago). It doesn't appear so, so I'm just tossing this out as a feature request. Not sure if this is the correct forum for a feature request, but in an old ticket I discussed with Alana the uploading of maven artifacts and feed storage location control. There currently is no documented or way to override a maven feed's storage location nor is it possible to set the feed storage location per feed.

It's definitely desirable to control these things in order to make backups on our repository simple, have our artifacts placed on more appropriate disks - separate from ProgramData, as well as browsing the file system. Setting it per feed is helpful. There's many reasons why you wouldn't ever want to mix snapshots and all the cached artifacts from online sources (could be thousands), with your own application releases - and heck, the override is a standard feature in the Nuget feeds...

Just wanted to ensure this was a feature request. As it stands now, I'm kind of stuck using Artifactory for maven artifacts and would be happy to have ProGet be our option here if possible.

(the answer from my previous question...)

"There is a config setting that can be used to override the root storage location for maven feeds (changing C:\ProgramData\ProGet\Packages.maven2\ to somewhere else), but currently the path can't be overridden per-feed. Is this an important feature for you to have? We can always add it.

It's true that there is no distinction in the software between release/snapshot feeds. We're certainly open to feedback on this; we are pretty new to maven and I'm sure there's room for improvement in our initial support of it :) Anything you can tell us about how you'd use or like to use the maven support would help us improve.

Hi,
I would like to deploy a package to a windows IIS server which has PHP project. The problem I have is: I will have to keep some folders like "images", "cache" and also some files like web.config into destination folder which doesn't contain in package. I can't simply delete the folders mentioned above since it contains files that I want to keep regardless of my new deployment and in addition, those folders contains special permissions for the web server to write files into.
How can I achieve that? I want to make sure that rest is all deleted before the deployment starts so that I get everything fresh from the deployment except those two-three folders and some files on destination folder.
I know that this would be a common deployment question but I don't know what combination of action I can use to achieve this task.
I appreciate your help.

Is there any way to prevent the BuildMaster "Server" from being used as an Agent role?

I see there is a "Server is Active" setting in Details.

Hi all,

I've observed some strange behaviour with our proget instance.

I've added the Anonymous user to a Developer group, which has the Developer role assigned. This worked until 3.7.5. Anonymous users were able to view the feeds overview and download packages.

After updating to 3.7.6 anonymous users weren't able to view the feeds or to download packages anymore. I was able to restore the old behaviour by assigning the Anonymous user directly the Developer role. (Before that only the developer group had the role assigned).

Is this the new intended behavior?

With kind regards

Boris Bopp

I am attempting to run multiple builds concurrently and I am getting errors from the "Get Latest" build step:

svn: E155037: Previous operation has not finished; run 'cleanup' if it was interrupted

The errors occur when the Build is downloading files from source control.

Is it expected that when using Subversion as a source control provider, the same working folder will be used, regardless of which application is executing the build?

The working folder that is being used is C:\BuildMaster_SVCTMP\SrcRepos<repository name>_

What are implications of using the "Pull To ProGet" feature? I understand that using the cache will download copies of the package, to improve performance and in case nuget.org or bower's or NPM's registries go down, right? We used to use the nuget mirror command when we were using a NuGet Gallery.

If I pull a package to ProGet, should I now see 2 packages? One for the connector's instance and one for the pulled instance?

What happens if I pull a package to ProGet, then that package deploys a new version to NuGet, for example? Do I need to repull it? Will I be able to see the new version in the pulled package?

Can unpull a package? What happens in that case?

Thanks!

The BuildMaster Events only indicates at a very high level that something has changed in a particular area of BuildMaster, but does not indicate exactly what that is. For example, when I make a change to a setting in my application, I would only see an Event: Application Modified and some very basic information on who did it, time, etc.

How can we see exactly what changed? Things like the previous value vs current value for all the things that changed is important.

Can a BuildMaster agent compile source codes, or is this task always done by the server?

Accessing the ProGet package feed with
http://192.168.216.1:25602/nuget/Packages()/$count?$filter=substringof('TESTTAG',Tags)
always returns zero packages, although some packages with Tag TESTTAG are available within the feed.
Is this kind of request not implemented in ProGet or is this a misconfiguration of my server?

Hi-

We recently updated our proget server (we love the product btw) from 3.2.1 to 3.7.6. I updated our old existing feed to the "new style" v3.3 feed via the "easy" way recommended in the docs. After an IIS reset, everything seemed fine, with the exception of permissions, which retained the users and customized groups from our old install, but did not seem to carry over the privileges associated with the groups. I rebuilt the privileges and ran into a problem:

When we push via nuget.exe (including the API key that is specced for the feed), we are prompted for credentials. This is normal so far. After supplying valid credentials for an account that is in a group with "Feeds_AddPackage" priveleges, we get the error:

Failed to process request. 'There was an error processing the request: You are not authorized to add a package to this feed. By default, ProGet is not configured to allow unauthenticated users to publish packages to a feed. You will need to either authenticate (by using "name:pass" as your API Key) or give the Anonymous User the Feeds_AddPackage privilege.'.

We don't want to give any permissions to anonymous users, and we're fine with both supplying the api key and being prompted for credentials (it's how our pushes worked before with the old version). If I give invalid credentials, it keeps prompting me, so it must be authenticating me at some point. The account in question can push via the website UI, so the permissions seem to be in place. I also tried with our admin account and got the same error.

Any idea about what could be wrong here?

thanks in advance!

We have ProGet deployed and are occasionally getting errors when packages are being downloaded, especially if multiple members of my team are restoring packages for a solution at the same time. We've hosted ProGet in IIS, so I have enabled Failed Request Tracing and noticed that a NullReferenceException occurs. Any clues on how we might fix this? We haven't been able to detect any particular pattern in when we get these errors, although it seems to occur more often when more members of my team are downloading packages at the same time.

I've uploaded the Failed Request Trace here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/23379493/FailedRequestTrace.zip

We really love using ProGet, especially now that it supports NPM and Maven. The last piece of the puzzle for us is Ruby Gem support. Is this on the roadmap? I didn't see explicit mention of it on the roadmap.

Thanks!

We are on the Free version of 3.7.6 and recently started getting a Severe Error about the license but when I tried to login with any admin privileged account it wouldn't login.
Then I tried using the Admin password reset but that is also not working, it says it resets the password but still fails to login.

I noticed that if you try to load the ProGet page from a browser that supports integrated Windows authentication, but the currently logged on user does not have access to ProGet, the ProGet logon page is displayed, but will reject any valid credentials entered.
