Otter's integration with Chocolatey creates a simple way to provision servers with Chocolatey packages as part of server creation or orchestration plans.


By installing the Chocolatey extension, you are given an additional built-in operation:

  • Collect Chocolatey Packages - Collects the names and versions of Chocolatey packages installed on a server.
  • Ensures Chocolatey Package - Ensures that a Chocolatey packages is installed on a server.
  • Install Chocolatey Package - Installs a Chocolatey package on a server

If your installation of Otter can access, simply navigate to Admin > Extensions, and install or update extensions from the gallery.

You can also manually install the extension.

  1. Copy the extension file (Chocolatey.otterx) to the Extension Library path (by default, this is %ProgramData%\Otter\Extensions).
  2. Restart the Otter Service (Admin > Service).
  3. Restart the Otter Web Application (Admin > All Settings > Save).
  4. Verify that the new extension has been loaded (Admin > Extensions)
