Npm is missing packages

  • One of our devs is trying to download an npm package, del (link below). npm install fails and we also cannot browse to that package in the ProGet website, searching that feed. We have the connector setup to point to https://registry.npmjs.org

I also looked at counts. Our npm feed has 1,471 packages, including a handful that we added. Per the npmjs.com site, they have/host a total of 194.622 total packages. Why such a large discrepancy? It would appear that the ProGet connector is getting less than one percent of the npm feeds that it should be, unless they are not counting apples to apples.

Any ideas on the issue? Would upgrading to the latest ProGet resolve this issue? Thanks!

    Product: ProGet
    Version: 3.7.3

  • It's hard to say why there's a discrepancy, but you can just re-index the entire connector. Just run the "FullNpmConnectorIndex " scheduled task, accessible from the admin portal. This will take several minutes.

There will be a LOT of warnings about "missing versions property". You can ignore thesethey are effectively invalid npm packages that they return anyway with the index request.
