I'm evaluating ProGet and would like to confirm whether the behaviour I'm seeing when searching for packages in the UI is producing expected results.

I have two versions of the same NuGet package which have been tagged with different release numbers;

  • my_package 1.0.0 {tags: release_a}
  • my_package 1.0.1 {tags: release_b}

If I enter release_b in the search field then my_package 1.0.1 is displayed in the search results.

If I enter release_a in the search field then no results are returned.

Executing an odata query against the feed using the release_a tag returns metadata for version 1.0.0 of the package.
http://{proget-server}/nuget/{feed}/Packages()?$filter=substringof('release_a',Tags)

I was hoping that a search using tags would return all packages/versions that had the tag applied. If this not supported/planned, can you suggest an alternative way for searching forl packages that have a particular tag applied?

If I create a new application using the 'duplicate existing' process
Application to clone: X
New application name: XP (X Patch)

  • Copy deployment plans

Going into the newly copied deployment steps for new XP:QA steps have all my X:Production steps, XP:Staging has X:QA and XP:Production has X;Staging

Everything was copied over but with a shifted Deployment value, which is obviously quite scary since now my "QA" release just tried to go to prod without being vetted.

Is it possible to easily move all the steps from one deployment to another without going to each individual execution group -> copy to ... target deployment group, insert at step... across every single group on every single deployment?

Hi,

Is it possible to authenticate against npm registry when publishing by using some sort of authToken instead of username and password. You support similar thing with NuGet feeds with API key.

Best,
Ivan

We have to deploy multiple instances, a lot of them, and we normally deal with the settings via a xml file with all the settings for the individual deployments.
Is there someway to do a mass import of values from a XML file to set variables to be used in a job?
Or a way to import Java property file types?
Or pull them from a database?

I know there is the import value from file but frankly that is sort of useless when you have a file with several hundred settings in it.

Thanks,
Jon

I want to be able to set a BuildMaster variable value from a Powershell script that I can then use elsewhere in a non-Powershell function? This would all be within the same Deployment of course.

Prior to upgrading to v4.8.6 (from 4.8.1) the Active Releases section of the System Overview page showed the most recently build active release for each of our applications. After the upgrade, it shows only older releases. What determines which releases display in this section?

Thanks.

Hi,

we are currently evaluating ProGet for hosting our internal Nuget packages.

Now we have the problem that on a single client machine, the feed seems to be empty. We tried the Nuget Command Line and the Visual Studio Plugin to list the packages in our feed, but the result is always an empty list.

On several other clients the feed works as intended.

The only major difference between the machines is, that the machine where the feed is empty, has Visual Studio 2015 and 2013 installed, while the others are still running 2013 only.

Are there any known Problems with accessing the feed from machines where Visual Studio 2015 is installed?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Sascha

Hello:
When VS 2015 is connected to nuget.org, I am able to download NuGet packages like System.Globalization, System.Reflection, System.Runtime, and Xunit. However, when connected to ProGet, I get error 401 unauthorized for these same packages. This is a SERIOUS problem.
I am using ProGet version 3.8.6. I also tried caching the xUnit package and that didn't change the error. I use the same credentials to connect to ProGet as I do to administer it.

Thanks for your help in getting this resolved.

Hi,

we are in the process of introducing ProGet in our organization.

I have noticed that ProGet logs the username of all package downloads, but I can't see any information about who published a package. Why isn't this logged?

Hello,

I have a website build with VS2013 based on the standard WebForms.
In the "old days" I used to Publish the website using the VS2013-Publish methode.
This generated a folder with the deployable items.
I used to copy this manualy to the ISS-connected folder to make it "live".

Now, I want to use the Buildmaster deployment.

I made it work so far, but saw a strange thing happening.

When I use the Publish action, the outputfolder did not get any "Class.cs" files in it.
These file are needed because ISS complaince about the lach of it.

Is there something I mis ?
Could you help me out ?

Kind regards
Martin

Hello,

We are currently using the "TFS2012" BuildMaster extension. We know that it is not supported anymore and had recently tried to switch over to the "TFS" extension.

When attempting to use the Create TFS Build action from the "TFS" extension, we had received the following exception:

An unhandled exception occurred while executing this action: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
File name: 'Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'
at Inedo.BuildMasterExtensions.TFS.CreateTfsBuildAction.Execute()
at Inedo.BuildMaster.Extensibility.Actions.ActionBase.ExecuteInternal(IActionExecutionContext context, ExtensionConfigurerBase extensionConfigurer, Boolean resumeNextOnError, Boolean logErrorsAsWarnings)

We do not have Visual Studio 2013 on the controller that is calling the Create TFS Build action, but do have Visual Studio 2012. Is it be possible to change the "TFS" extension to point to the Visual Studio 2012 binaries rather than the 2013 binaries?

Thank you,
Kevin

I am trying to build a visual studio solution on BuildMaster, but got an error - BuildMaster cannot find several libraries, mainly mvc libraries, managed by the NuGet package.

The structure of the solution is as follows:
project name
\Packages...
a.sln

From the log, BuildMaster tried to find the libraries in the Package folder through the following path: ..\Package. Isn't it Package? if so, how do I tell BuildMaster to find the libaries?

Hi,

I'm using NuGet's mirror functionality to mirror a package from one feed to another. It finds the latest version of the package, but it then mirrors it to the wrong feed. I'm wondering if this is possibly because the command requires the feed API key, and we've been using the same value for all our feed API keys.

I tried changing the key value for the target feed, but the mirror command still wants the old value in order to work. Do I need to do anything for my ProGet server to start using a different API key for a feed? Any other thoughts?

Thanks,
Joel

I set up BuildMaster on my windows 10 box, everything work beautifully. I'm now trying to set BuildMaster on my windows server 2008 produciton box and i cannot get it to work.

When i create an application, i am able to successfully navigate my Vault repository and choose my .NET sln file, but when i hit NEXT i get:
Cannot connect to the service: Error in deserializing body of reply message for operation 'SendMessageWithResponse'. The maximum array length quota (16384) has been exceeded while reading XML data. This quota may be increased by changing the MaxArrayLength property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader.

If i choose a different (smaller) SLN file it works, only the large SLN file breaks but this large SLN works fine on my windows 10 machine (connected to the same production Vault).

Alot of googling says to edit the binding in web.config (related to wcf in general, not specifically buildmaster). but the web.config does not have any bindings defined, so i'm guessing they are build in code.

My goal is a Pre-Deployment Approval Check that compares the version of my database (a value stored in the database itself) with the $ReleaseNumber and $BuildNumber. The value stored in the database is like 1.2.34567. I will need to do a $ReleaseNumber >= 1.2 AND $BuildNumber > 34567 comparison.

I have attempted to do this by implementing a variable function in a custom extension but don't have the understanding to get this working or know if this is the best approach.

Can you please suggest a method to achieve my goal (or an alternative approach) and provide any source code examples that might be applicable.

One of our devs is trying to download an npm package, del (link below). npm install fails and we also cannot browse to that package in the ProGet website, searching that feed. We have the connector setup to point to https://registry.npmjs.org

I also looked at counts. Our npm feed has 1,471 packages, including a handful that we added. Per the npmjs.com site, they have/host a total of 194.622 total packages. Why such a large discrepancy? It would appear that the ProGet connector is getting less than one percent of the npm feeds that it should be, unless they are not counting apples to apples.

Any ideas on the issue? Would upgrading to the latest ProGet resolve this issue? Thanks!

I want to build a VS2015 project on a build server that has Visual Studio 2013 and 2015 installed. As per Microsoft the Team Foundation client libraries are now delivered as NuGet packages and are not located in the GAC. Please update accordingly as we shouldn't have to install a 2012 library just to get source code:
