Hi Alex,
I saw your Kickstarter project Release! the Game.
I want to see if you'd like to do a cross promotion?
I will share your project with a following of about 17,000 Kickstarter backers we have at www.funded.today. I can send people to your Kickstarter page, or directly to your website.
In exchange, you'd simply do a backer update and tell them about our cashback program at http://Funded.Today/cashback/
For others we have worked with, it has gone really well, and they have been happy. It's been a win/win.
Should we plan to post for each other sometime later this week?
Thanks,
Christine

Are there any plans to allow actions to execute in parallel against servers in a server group? I have server groups with, say, 5 servers that all need some simple action performed such as zipping up a directory. Currently I have to wait while server 1 is zipped up, then server 2, then 3, etc. It would cut a ton of time off our deployments if all 5 servers in the group could have their folders zipped up in parallel.

I know BuildMaster will let me use parallelism between entire action groups, but creating an action group for each server seems to defeat the purpose of server groups because then I'm hard-coding the servers into my deployment plan.

I'm not entirely keen on writing my own custom action to do this.

Hi,

Having issue with downloads when client is behind slow connection. In server I can see HttpException in application log with message "Request timed out.". I increased default timeout value in IIS from 120 seconds to 900 seconds and restarted server but it didn't help. Client is able to download about 30 Mb (out of 67 Mb) but then download stops. Same client is able to download over 70 Mb files from http server in same subnet so error is limited to ProGet.

I use a Deploy Build Artifact action to deploy the current build artifact into production with the Artifact name property of the action set to the name of the application.

If I now want to create an action group that executes in the event of the deployment failing how would I use the Deploy Build Artifact action to retrieve and deploy the artifact associated with the previous release version?

What can I do to resolve the following issue?

I’m unable to duplicate an existing application when creating a new application in BuildMaster v4.6.4. Looking at the event log I see the following exception. The application I wish to clone has three entries in dbo.EventListeners, two with a WorkflowStep_Workflow_Id defined and no BuildStep_Workflow_Id and the other with the reverse set-up. Hence the application I’m cloning does not break the constraint [CK__EventListeners__OnlyWorkflowOrStep], it’s the BuildMaster implementation of the clone that is leading to the issue. Suspect this error is raised in line 168 of [Workflows_CloneWorkflow].

I am trying to uninstall Buildmaster from a Windows 8.1 machine, through Control Panel -> Programs & Features. Uninstall dialog shows up, but the uninstaller terminates immediately after the "Uninstall" button is pressed. Buildmaster is still listed as installed, and no files are removed.

Are there alternate uninstallers? A list of files / registry entries that can be manually removed?

Hi,

I'd like to set up proget to use LDAP from an LDAP server that is not active directory. Is that possible? If so, how can we configure that?

Thanks!

We are able to use ProGet perfectly through our network, via browser and from Visual Studio.

If we try to connect to our VPN, we are able to access ProGet from browser, but from Visual Studio, it never seems to connect, and if I cancel, it gives a 400 Bad Request error

When I tried to install ProGet 3.5.7 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 protected by Avira Server Security I got this warning:

Avira Server Security detected suspicious code in file
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\ProGetSetup\bmdbupdate.exe
The code has the designation TR/Dropper.Gen!

Avira quarantined bmdbupdate.exe which resulted in a failed install.

It would not surprise me that this is a false positive by Avira, but I am very hesitant to install something that Avira is unhappy with. There is always the chance that something bad is lurking in your network and bmdbupdate.exe is indeed infected with something unwanted.

What thoughts do you have?

Buildmaster contains a .Net action to Write Assembly Versions (Updates AssemblyVersion, AssemblyFileVersion, and AssemblyInformationalVersion Attributes (in Assembly Info source files). These actions are made on the build server but are not saved back to the source control system.

Is there anyway to save the modified AssemblyInfo.cs back to source control system? This would need to be done without the check-in leading to an infinite loop of BuildMaster. For example the check-in triggers a new build which leads to an update in the AsemblyInfo.cs, which on save to source control triggers a new build, etc etc.

Dear Inedo,

We're using the free version of your Proget product as our in-house NuGet server. The extra features that ProGet adds are really usefull when you want more then just a plain feed.

We're also using the built-in source and symbol service that your product provides.

However, it appears that somewhere from publishing the package to ProGet to downloading it in Visual Studio .config files are being stripped out of the package. We want to include an example config file with one of our packages and looking at the output from TeamCity (where the package is built) the config file in inside the content folder.

Can you help us with this? If needed I can send the Nuspec files and/or the package files.

Thanks in advance,

Floris Robbemont

Pricing page says:

  • ProGet Enterprise, the full-featured edition that can be used in single- or multi-server configurations,
  • ProGet Free, the basic version that's ideal for individuals or smaller teams.

Okay, but are there any concrete limitations (max users, for exapmle)?

We have not been able to turn on LDAP because of the slow response times that we see in the Package Manger in Visual Studio 2013. Sometimes VS cannot even connect! I looked up the question in your Q & A regarding this issue from 2014 but apparently this is not resolved yet. Please advise how we can get around this problem.

A bower registry (https://github.com/bower/registry) ordinarily allows you to POST the name and git URL to create your package, similarly to:

curl http://localhost:81/bower-feeds/my-feed/packages/ -v -F 'name=bower-demo' -F 'url=http://kevin@192.168.10.52/scm/bower-demo.git'

Unfortunately this does not seem to be supported on ProGet or follows a different structure.

Could you kindly guide me how I would be able to create a Bower package through an HTTP Post?

This is required as we would like to automate this process.

Can I configure private NuGet feed with ProGet and give anonymous users rights for watching the packages, but registered users will be able to download them? If yes, how to achieve this?

I've tried to do this by removing the "Download package" token from anonymous user, but after doing this, anonymous users were still able to download packages.

Hi BuildMaster,

We need to export Build Plans from version 3.3.3 for use with the current release (4.6.4). Is there an export function for version 3.3.3? If so please share information on how we can export an action group for use with the latest release of BuildMaster.

If version 3.3.3 doesn't allow for exports ... please offer ideas on how we could migrate or copy Action Groups to the new server. If we need to upgrade the old version to get access to the Export functionality ... please specify what version the Export feature was introduced in. We might be able to make a copy of the old BuildMaster server so we can upgrade so we can export Action Groups.

BTW ... Our old BuildMaster server has not been upgraded for several years because there were problems with previous upgrades and it was considered too risky to continue upgrading this older system.

Thank you for your help

Rob
