LDAP not working with integrated web server

  • I installed ProGet as an integrated webserver. However the biggest reason I want to use proget is the integration with AD and so I'd like to turn that on. However, when I try to add new domain users and groups, proget doesn't find them. No errors or anything, it just finds nothing. So of course I can't turn on ldap.

On a separate note I was mucking around in the support settings and I set the ldap thing to true which of course was my own stupidity because no AD users had permissions so I couldn't do anything anymore. The real problem is that even with a full uninstall (including database and package library), a fresh install is still mirked. I don't think your uninstaller is really working. I still can't administrate and it still shows me my old deployment projects even though as i said I did a FULL uninstall.

    Product: ProGet
    Version: 3.1.0

  • Most likely, the user running the web server does not have permission to enumerate your Active Directory. This can happen in IIS or in the IWS.

The un-installer does NOT remove packages or the database; only the application/service is removed. This is specified on one of the uninstaller screens, and if you want them gone just delete the files and drop the database.

  • Is that error logged somewhere so that I can confirm it? The account running this service has access to enumerate AD or so i think.

  • ProGet logs all errors to its error log or indexing errors log in the software itself, otherwise to the Windows event log.

You can test by running the service (and/or IIS app pool) as your account if you're certain that your account has enumerate privileges.
