Report: State of Software Supply Chain Management 2025

This report presents findings from our 2025 survey of around 500 IT professionals, supplemented by 50+ in-depth follow-up interviews. It offers a practical look at how software delivery is managed today—and how delivery challenges often lead directly to security and reliability risks.

We targeted IT professionals in roles such as software development, DevOps engineering, platform engineering, engineering managers, CTOs, and CISOs—primarily those working at small to mid-sized companies in industries outside of tech. Our goal was to focus on the “volume zone”—the early and late majority of companies building software under real-world constraints.

The survey included:

  • 11 questions to establish organizational context: company size, industry, number of developers, architecture, tech stack, and internal application portfolio.
  • 15+ questions focused on software supply chain challenges: release cadence, stability, communication, process governance, visibility, automation, and coordination.

To go beyond the quantitative data, we conducted follow-up interviews with over 50 respondents. These conversations helped us explore the “why” behind the survey responses and uncovered recurring themes we wouldn’t have seen from the numbers alone.
